I believe in the power of positivity. We have all experienced negativity and major stressors in our life, and thus feel a negative, often painful, impact. We all have stories, situations and experiences that have influenced us, sometimes they are overwhelming. I believe if we have a safe place to work through our stressors we have a much improved chance to live the happiness that we all deserve.
I have worked with many different populations of clients including children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. I do not specialize in one particular area, I have chosen to work with many different people and the situations they are dealing with.
I have worked with clients who are struggling with Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar, pre marital and marital issues, addiction, anger management, PTSD, gender issues, schizophrenia, schizoaffective, trauma, ADHD, family issues, domestic violence, divorce and more.
I have also worked with military, first responders, and other clinicians. My clients will often say that, when they leave our sessions, they carry me on their shoulders, reminding them to work very hard at finding the positive in every situation.
Couples Therapy
Couples therapy aims to relieve people's conflicts and distress within one of the most important areas of their lives, the relationship with their partner. Unlike Individual therapy, there are three parties in the room (not including psychotherapist), the two partners and the relationship itself. In a very stratigic way, Jamie can help couples find the core values of their relationships, rejuvinate their connections and work through resentments or other problems threatening the health of the relationship.
Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is widely understood as talk therapy, sitting with a practitioner and solely focusing on our wounds of the past. Yet, psychotherapy is far more complicated and nuanced.
If it seems that an element of the past is impacting your current life then it is worthwhile to explore. A psychotherapist is a guide in exploration, processing, and ultimately moving beyond unwanted ties to trauma, difficult experiences or relationships.
However, psychotherapy frequently has nothing to do with the past. Often it is about releasing damaging beliefs that are hindering your life's movement forward, noticing and changing behaviors that are no longer serving you, gaining insight into who you currently are while gathering a clear picture of who you'd like to be. The psychotherapist offers ideas, strategies, insight, resources and guidance to support you along your way.
However, when you leave the therapy session you must become your own therapist. Our time with each individual is brief, therefore, it is the job of the client to take what was accomplished in session forward into daily life to create lasting change. In this way, with purposeful action, desired change is achieved.
Family
What is a family? A family is a group of people made up of a parent(s), partners, children, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. There is no exact picture of what a family is, rather it is how we individual define what it looks like to us. Family therapy helps reduce the stress and conflict within an individual family so that the family can function as a healthy unit.

Anger Management
Anger is a normal emotion that we all experience. When we experience it, it's not necessarily a bad thing. Anger becomes an issue for people when they act upon the emotion with negative impact to themselves or others. Anger is a human response to fear or an uncomfortable emotion when we feel vulnerable or powerless. Anger management teaches individuals to effectively recognize triggers and stressors and utilize healthier coping mechanisms to manage the uncomfortable emotions. Individuals will gain insight into how they can effectively communicate their thoughts and emotions rather than acting impulsively.
Trauma
Trauma is an emotional response that we experience to something that happened to us or something that we witnessed. It can be overwhelming and can impact multiple domains in our lives. Trauma can affect our ability to cope, decrease our self esteem, decrease our motivation, and affect our ability to experience a full range of emotions. It can affect the human body in many ways and we can develop medical issues as a direct result of the trauma that was experienced. Trauma therapy assists people in managing their painful thoughts and memories so that they may heal.
Substance Use
Individuals who struggle with substance use disorder experience an impact in multiple areas of their lives. Clients often report their family members are impacted, work, peer relationships and social settings are impacted. Clients struggling with a substance use disorder often times experience elevated levels of shame and guilt which makes it feel difficult for them to consider recovery or maintain recovery. Therapy for those dealing with a substance use disorder is not just about the substances they utilize. Its about managing emotions, coping mechanisms, identifying triggers and stressors. Clients often have to learn effective skill sets to manage any shame or guilt that they may be experiencing. Recovery is a difficult process but therapy assists the client in gaining hope they can achieve recovery.
